2012 Architectural Design Awards – sponsored by Capital One Bank

The 2011 AHCMC Architectural Design contest was sponsored by Capital One.
Awards totaling $4,000 were given to deserving architects in the categories of new construction, renovation and green design at the 2011 Affordable Housing Summit on Monday, May 9, 2011.
Eligibility: The program is open to architects who are members of the AIA Potomac Valley Chapter, and the DC/NVA chapters of the American Institute of Architects. The projects must be located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
Format: Architects are asked to submit projects in digital format and/or in the same format as the AIA Awards program: 36inches x 36 inches foam core panels suitable to attachment and stacking. Awards program boards may be used.
Project Eligibility: Architects are encouraged to submit any project which uses housing subsidy funds other than the mortgage interest deduction and which provides assisted housing to more than 30% of its residents.
Awards: A cash award will be made to the project judged best in the categories of (a) new construction, defined as having been completed in 2008 or later, and (b) renovation or rehabilitation of existing housing, also completed in 2008, or later. Entries in the renovation category must include “before” and “after” photos. Entries will be exhibited and awards will be presented at the Conference to be held on Monday, May 9, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. There is no entry fee.
